Starting ispyserver automatically?

Postby bryanmohr » Fri Jun 13, 2014 6:31 am

Has anyone been able to get ispyserver to start automatically on Windows startup, on Windows 7? It works perfectly all the time on my XP servers, but none of the Win 7 servers will let it start automatically. I've checked the "Automatic startup" box (of course), put it into a scheduled event with admin privs, and manually put it into the startup folder. It never starts up automatically! Now iSpy works great for auto startup on XP and Win 7. But not ispyserver.

Any suggestions?

I followed this and it works and is very simple.

I did not follow "Part C" because everything worked fine and there was no UAC questions when I launch the program. If you have to follow a prompt when iSpy launches follow "Part C". If not, Go to Options > Settings > Check "Run on Startup (this user only)".

Thanks. But it looks like that guide is for iSpy (which automatically starts perfectly on all my Win 7 machines). It's only iSpyServer that does not want to work properly. I had already turned off password validation (Part A) (I'm the only user on all machines). And I had tried the Scheduled Tasks (Part C). But still nothing. iSpyServer just never auto-starts for me on Win 7.

There is no mention of ispyserver in the event logs at all, on all 4 Win7 servers. But ispy itself starts up just fine on 3 other Win7 machines. And, ispyserver has no problem starting automatically on the XP server.

And iSpyServer launches just fine when I start it manually. It's only a problem on Windows 7 (that I've seen. Haven't tried it on Windows Vista, 8 or 8.1) and only when I try to start it automatically. Anyone? Anyone?

Oh, and I can easily try it on Windows Vista, 8 or 8.1 if that will help to narrow down the problem.

So still nothing? Does anyone here run Windows 7 with iSpyServer.exe and it starts automatically? 6 different Win 7 machines now (all 64-bit) have the exact same problem. And I've done a totally fresh install of Windows 7 with all recommended and optional updates, then installed iSpyServer.exe so it was as plain as I could possibly get. iSpyServer.exe simply will not start automatically on those machines. And as always, iSpy.exe has no problem starting automatically, and iSpyServer.exe starts just fine when invoked manually.

Hi,

I made a tricky solution for Win7:

1) with "netplwiz" enable the autologin on Windows
2) create a batch file "startispy.bat"
---------------------------------------
timeout 10
cmd /C "C:\Program Files\iSpy\iSpy.exe"
---------------------------------------

3) create a shortcut to startispy.bat and put it on Autostart on Start menu.

Enjoy
